Mila with her new favourite toy, the fluffy squirrel :)
She found this toy somewhere in the house and fell in love with it :)
Cute Mila (Bronze For Macos) is staying with us for a few weeks, while her family are on the holiday overseas.
I thought to post some pictures of her here, so that her parents can see how their clever girl is doing :)

Mila is an old friend: she used to be our foster greyhound, right after she retired in August 2010. She stayed with us for around two months then, before she went to live with Rachael and Michael in Wellington. We have always kept in touch  ; it is always lovely to have our ex-foster greyhounds come to stay with us! Mila certainly remembered our house, and the garden, and the routine -she fitted in like she never left :)
Mila has always been very dog-social and has made friends with everybody immediately- her new best friend is our Misha (Bodhran Cailin). It was friendship at first sight -these two girls are very similar, and click great:

Mila , like all our homestay greyhounds, attends Rally O and CGC classes at our local Dog Club in Feilding, and she really enjoys them. When classes are not on, Mila loves running in our dog club, together with her friends from our pack::

Off we go!

And after the run - the best way to relax is in front of the fire with her bestie Misha!

Update your bookmarks: we have another New Zealand based greyhound blog! YEY!

This is wonderful news, as so far, we have had only three greyhound blogs in this country:
Greyhounds Can Sit, written by amazing GAP volunteer Sue,
Stanley's World, written by always entertaining Stanley (with a bit of help from his humans!),
and this one of mine of course.

And now, Mila (Bronze For Macos) has a blog too:  Adventures Of Mila Grey .
Mila (nee Fiona) was one of our foster dogs; we are so proud of how well she has settled in with her new Mum and Dad, and are looking forward to many posts from her in the future!

Talking of blogs, Stanley has a great post on Animates Sylvia Park opening in Auckland. Greyhounds were in attendance, they charmed everyone and were very well behaved, despite the rabbits in the store!! :))
See Stanley's post and gorgeous pictures here:

Mila in her bed :)
Rachel and Michael from Wellington adopted their beautiful Mila (Bronze For Macos) recently and sent us an update and some gorgeouys pictures :)
Btw -we fostered Mila (then Fiona) for a while too -she was loads of fun! :) It is so wonderful to see her so happy in her forever home! :)

Rachel and Michael wrote:
Mila has been with us in Wellington for a month now and has very quickly become a big part of our little family. She is fascinated by the number of cats that we have living down our street and will run around the house trying to find the other dog whenever she hears barking coming from the TV!
She loves being around people and has earned a reputation as my big black shadow (because she would follow me around the house all day if she could). She absolutely loves her squeaky toys, which she takes to bed with her each night and are never far away from her during the day. Her current favourite is a fluffy pink pig which has lost its squeaker and is starting to look very dirty, but still provides hours of entertainment!
The “sticking up ears” are always a good sign that she has found something interesting and she still absolutely loves to be in and around water.

Mila proudly suppporting the All Blacks on her first weekend with us!
We have been on a few adventures in the time we have had Mila - she loves going for rides in the car which makes it really easy for us to get out to see the sites of Wellington. Last weekend we visited a farm in Ohau where she got to hang out with two Waimaraners (Heidi and Jazzy) and she kept us busy trying to make sure that she did not harass the chickens too much (good thing we had our muzzle with us!). We have also just started Obedience classes in Karori with another GAP greyhound (Senso) and she is quickly getting the hang of sitting, lying down and staying on command. The cheese incentives are really helping us out there! :)

I have attached a few pics of Mila above (obviously, there are many, many more than this but I thought I had better not inundate you - and look like a crazy dog person!).  :)

OMG! A paddling pool!
Fiona (Bronze for Macos) has been with us for only a few days and she has already made herself at home :)
She is very pretty and very affectionate girl. She is tall, lithe, and relatively big for a girl -she is  just over 30kg!
Fiona just adores people and is interested in EVERYTHING you do - at the moment she is fascinated by a computer keyboard (currently observing very carefully as I type!! :) She tries to get into your lap too, it is hilarious!
She has fitted in great into our pack  - she gets on fabolously with  Louie, Lucy and our other foster greyhound Cutie (Call Me Cute). Fiona is lovely in the house: she sleeps through the night, has never had an accident inside, and follows our instructions well. She is a bit of a foodie too, she polishes off any food that comes her way :)
Yesterday we went to Sue's place, as Sue wanted to take a video of Fiona for the GAP website. While the video was being taken, Fiona had a great time playing with SUe's doggies Frankie and Beryl (Winsome Deluxe). I took some pictures (you can click on each picture to see full size):

I think Frankie likes me...?

He does!!!! Lets play!

Update 23/06/2011:

Last weekend we took Fiona and our greyhounds for a run at Kyrewood Equestrian Center. They were joined by Beryl (Winsome Deluxe) , Sam The Samoyed (who was staying with us for the weekend) and of course, by Benjamin The Resident Corgi :)
Fiona had a great time hooning around, and she made great friends with Benjamin, who thought she was SO cool :)

Fiona LOVED the water jump...
.
...and she did some diving there!!!

After diving in the water jump, Fiona was soaked, so she tried her best to dry off!
