Just got these pictures from Sharon (Rosie's Mum), who organized a visit to Kindercare Devonport (AKL), in April this year. Rosie (Memphis Angel) and Hoss (Homebush Wayne) seem to have had a fantastic time ! (all those sticky faces to lick! :-)
Finally, it has stopped raining and we were off for a walk! We took our foster greyhound Stooge (Cyclades) along with Louie (Charlston State), Lucy and Blue (Belfast Blue), who also lives in Feilding.

Stooge, the handsome and goofy black and white greyhound, is our latest foster :-) He arrived at 5pm today, and after exploring the garden and the lounge, making friends with Louie and Lucy, wolfing down his dinner, and having a pigs ear treat, he has found the comfiest bed in front of the gas heater!!! :-)
This boy is fresh out of the kennels (he was entered into GAP programme by the lovely Ben Craik from Auckland), but he took no time in getting into this pet business! :-) He has ventured out of his crate (which is in our lounge) almost immediately, and went exploring the room :-)
He was watching TV for at least an hour - the "Living Channel" to be precise! He was fascinated by it, and sniffed the TV all over, trying to figure it out. Eventually, he realized that the thing was quite interestitng really, so he spent an hour watching it :-) Now, he is snoozing after such an exciting afternoon! :-)
I just found out (by looking at Stooge's and his brother's Guy's pedigree) that their Mum Chloe (Rhani Reason) is also a GAP greyhound and currently living in Kapiti :-) Here is her picture, she has the same coloring as Stooge: Update: and the day after, we took Stooge for a walk to our local park, with Louie (Charlston State), Lucy, Beryl (Winsome Deluxe) and Frankie. Stooge is SO well behaved, and he had a lovely time :-) And it was so cool seeing Stooge and Beryl together as they are virtually mirror images of each other :-) (Thanks Sue for the gorgeous video montage!) Update 11/07/2010: Stooge is a real foodie :-) He had a HUGE canon bone today -he spent almost an hour chewing it - see pics below:

Update 19/06/2010: We took dogs to the beach today - they had such fun! Stooge was such a good boy - he recalled to us perfectly, despite the fact he has been with us for just 10 days! He loves the water, and had great time running around with Louie and Lucy, and a Labrador friend he made there :-) Stooge, Lucy and Louie with Rachel:
. I just got these pictures from Harry's foster carer (thanks Marion!). She says that Harry is a lovely cuddly boy, who loves his toys :-) Isn't he cute? :-)
'Swift Fantasy' (trained by Steve Clark and Kathy Wilson, on the picture above) has just won the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Collar at Manukau!
Ben Craik's 'Rasmah' came second and Ray Adcock's 'Sudden Sam' third.
Steve and Kathy, as well as Ben Craik and Ray Adcock are all great GAP supporters too - congratulations to all of you on great race today!
We are looking forward to welcoming these amazing dogs to GAP programme once they retire! Update:
One of my readers has just sent me a link to the video of the race (thanks a million Dan!). It was an AMAZING performance, with Swift Fantasy (in red rug) coming from the back and zooming past everybody! What a truly amazing dog - didn't she just LOVE reining that field in ? :-)

. Last week we took the complete Feilding GAP contingent to the velodrome in Timona Park, where they had a mighty run! Greyhounds love to race around it and pretend they're back on the track :-) We usually go to the velodrome when we want to offleash foster dogs (or newly adopted dogs) as the velodrome is fully fenced; Louie, Lucy, Beryl and Fish are all recall-trained, dont need fully-fenced areas and usually run in the park itself, with other dogs of all breeds. If you need a fully fenced training area for your greyhound -do check your local velodrome! I know that most of them have "NO DOGS ALLOWED" signs, but if you talk to the cycling club secretary or the velodrome manager, and explain that you would like to run and train your hound there, I am sure most of them would be happy to make an exception! Velodromes are great as they are big, fully fenced, with grassy areas in the middle. We trained Lucy to recall perfectly to us in the Feilding velodrome :-)
The occassion for the velodrome trip this time was Blue: Blue (Belfast Blue) is a newly adopted GAP greyhound, joining the Feilding hounds Louie (Charlston State), Lucy, Beryl (Winsome Deluxe) and Fish (Thrilling Fish). He had only been in his new home 2 days when this video was taken (4th June) and this is his first time meeting his new greyhound friends:-) He had a blast even though he didn't like having his muzzle on! These videos were shot by Beryl's Mum Sue -thanks a million again Sue! (Note from Sue: Excuse the dreadful filming, most of the time I couldn't see a thing!) Before watching, make sure you have your volume on, as Sue , as always, has got fantastic music choices :-) Hounds: Beryl is black and white, our foster girl '2 Spot' is snow white :-) Lucy is a small black girl, Fish is a handsome black boy with blue collar, Louie is Mummy's beautiful boy, a big black doggie with Burberry collar :) and Blue is handsome blue greyhound (you dont see much of Blue on these videos though -he had a short run and then went to be close to his new Mum and Nana :-)
After a gallop round the velodrome it's time for a cool down canter:-) Except for Lucy who doesn't know anything but flat out galloping and flat out on the grass after it, lol!
Our foster greyhound '2 Spot' had a great time playing with her new friend, Ralph the miniature foxy, who belongs to our neighbours. They had such fun! They love each other and it is quite funny as they have such similar coloring! They love jaw-wrestling and chasing each other around the garden, and today also had a great time jumping on each other on the beanbag in our courtyard :-)

Charlie (Staring Charlie) is Oscar's (Unplugged) brother - and we have had the priviledge of fostering both of the gorgeous boys :-) I just got pictures of Charlie in his new home :-) He now lives with Mike, Alison and their family in Auckland.
Mike sent us this update: Nearly two weeks with Charlie and we’ve never looked back. He’s learnt that the kitchen is out of bounds and he’s very polite when he’s going through doors. He was a bit scared of the stairs at first so we stayed down in the lounge with him most evenings but it seems he got fed up so mustered up enough bravery to make his own way to the upstairs living room! He’s definitely a big fan of the beach, but sleeping is still his favourite pastime!
. Berlin's Mum Ashley found this video of Carson (Crafty Carson) having his first bath :-) Carson is a typical patient greyhound - video is 5 minutes long but worth watching (love the kid in the wet suit in the bath with Carson! :-)
