Louie (Charlston State) and his litter sister Georgie (Charlston Time)

Last weekend, we had some very special guests : Louie's litter sister Georgie and her family! Georgie lives in Auckland, so this was her and Louie's first meeting after retirement from racing over 5 years ago.

Georgie and Louie look like two peas in a pod -Georgie is a bit smaller, but everything else is pretty much carbon copy :) They are both turning 11yrs old in April and we think they both have aged wonderfully and look just gorgeous! You can see a few more photos on our public Facebook page.

I am irresistable I suppose...:)

Cuddly Rex (Dark Fancy) has been in foster care with us for a week or so and he is the most affectionate doggie you can imagine! :)
He is a big black doggie who wags his tail non-stop, in fact, he wags his whole body :) He is just precious :)
Rexy loves meeting and greeting other dogs and makes friends with everybody :) He asks EVERYBODY for cuddles by rubbing his head on them - wherever he can reach!
He loves his food and treats -but will happily leave all that and come for cuddles :)

Rex was a very successful racer - he was trained by Pam and Denis Schofield , and then by Glen Hunt.
While at the Schofield kennels, his kennel mates were Harry (Jag's Flyer , also up for adoption at the moment) and Albion (Pressure Point, who was adopted recently and now lives in Lower Hutt ).
In July 2010, these three doggies won a trifecta ( ie. first three places) atWaikato Greyhounds meet at Cambridge , here is the link and photofinish of that race:

We took Rex , Louie, Lucy and our friend's dogs to Tangimoana Beach on Saturday -they had such fun! Rex LOVED the water and was frolicking in the waves :) Rexy is healthy and very fit - he just loved it! :)))

Meet our new foster greyhound: Sticky (Sticky Boy)

Cute Sticky (Sticky Boy) arrived a couple days ago - when I saw him first, I went: "Oh my God its a rabbit!" :) Sticky has the most amazing ears -which have a life of their own! :)

Sticky also has lovely markings -he is white and black, with lots of freckles all over.

He is such a kind doggie, very soft and very responsive. Not very confident at this stage, but willing to try anything, go anywhere and explore! :) He hums when you rub his ears too.

Sticky was a very successful racing greyhound - he was trained by D Schofield, my Louie's trainer. He was imported from Australia, had 85 starts and earned over $45,000 in stakes.
Now, he is ready for his well-deserved retirement.

Sticky walks beautifully on the lead and loves meeting other dogs. He sleeps like a baby through the night, eats well, and generally tries to do his best :)

His trainer said he loves kids too.
Yesterday we took Sticky for a run at Kyrewood, where he made friends with resident Corgi Benjamin.

I have just done some research into Sticky's bloodline - he is beautifully bred, his Dad is famous sire Big Daddy Cool, and his Mum is Miss Megastar. Also, Sticky looks so much like his Dad! Just check out this picture of Big Daddy Cool:

Yesterday, Louie's trainer Denis Schofield was dropping off a few more of his retired greyhounds to the GAP kennels in Sanson - so Louie and me went over there to catch up! :)

This weekend I went for an unexpected road trip to Auckland. On the way back, I stopped at Louie's trainers' greyhound kennels , and I FINALLY got some pictures of his Mum, Ellie (Charlston Babe).
I met Ellie 2 years ago, shortly after I adopted Louie, but I somehow never managed to get photos of her.
So here is gorgeous 12 year old Ellie, who has been Louie's trainer's pet greyhound for years:

Also, I met famous Yambla Jack! I saw him racing before and always thought that he was stunning looking and clever racer . This amazing dog earned almost $90,000 in ONLY 84 starts! Incredible or what???

Well, I had no idea, but he has also retired at his trainer's house. He is the cutest, soppiest, cuddliest, gorgeous doggie. He wags his tail furiously whenever he sees anyone, and is THE CUTEST.
I loved Jack the moment I saw him -he has got the most clever eyes and an impressive demeanor. I have said it before and I will say it again: I love all greyhounds, but for me, there is something about top racing dogs, something in their temperament, something in their personalities and demeanor that makes them unique and simply uncomparable to any other dog. Maybe it is the experience they had, professional side to them , their genetics...I am not sure. The only thing I know is that for me, personally, top performing dogs' temperament, manners and friendliness impresses me the most.
And yes, My Louie was a top racer too :)

I also met 10 gorgeous greyhound puppies and their Mum Mel (Fancy Mel). OMG they are SO cute! They are 8 weeks old :) AND they already have a couch in their enclosure - I am NOT joking! Check out the pictures below - in the background, you can see a blue couch!!!! :)
